Clarity and Precision
Learn to write clear and precise prompts to get exactly what you want.
Instructions
Clarity is the fundamental skill of prompt engineering. A vague prompt produces a vague answer. A precise prompt produces a precise answer. Many beginners write prompts like "Explain photosynthesis to me". The problem? The AI doesn't know at what level to explain, in what format, or what length to aim for. The result is often generic text that doesn't match actual needs. In this exercise, you'll learn to transform a vague prompt into an ultra-precise one by specifying the target audience, format, length, and elements to include.
Your prompt
Write a prompt asking an AI to explain photosynthesis. Your prompt must be ultra-precise and include ALL of the following elements: 1. **Target audience**: a 10-year-old child 2. **Format**: exactly 3 bullet points 3. **Length constraint**: each point must not exceed 2 sentences 4. **Mandatory analogy**: the prompt must ask for an analogy with something familiar to a child (cooking, games, etc.) 5. **Tone**: enthusiastic and encouraging Your prompt should be worded so that the AI cannot produce anything other than the requested format.
