Role Prompting

Use role assignment to get expert-level responses.

Instructions

Role prompting is one of the most powerful techniques in prompt engineering. By assigning a specific role to the AI, you activate an "expert mode" that radically changes the quality, vocabulary, and depth of the response. Saying "You are a senior UX designer with 10 years of experience" doesn't just change the tone: it modifies the thinking frameworks used, the level of technical detail, and the recommendations proposed. In this exercise, you'll assign a UX expert role to the AI to get professional feedback on a mobile app onboarding flow.

Your prompt

Use role prompting to have the AI act as a senior UX designer evaluating a fitness mobile app's onboarding flow. Your prompt must: 1. **Define the role** precisely: title, years of experience, specialties (e.g., user psychology, accessibility, conversion) 2. **Describe the context**: the app is called "FitTrack", it's a workout tracking app, the current onboarding has 5 screens (welcome, goals, level, preferences, sign-up) 3. **Request structured feedback** covering: user psychology, accessibility (WCAG), conversion optimization, friction points 4. **Require actionable recommendations** with priority levels (high/medium/low) The feedback should be at a professional UX consultant level, not a generalist's.
