You are a recruiter managing work-study hires at your company. Write a personalized, ready-to-send cover letter for my application.

Context:

  • Program / degree sought: [program and school]
  • Target company: [company name and industry]
  • Job title / work-study responsibilities: [role and responsibilities]
  • My profile: [background, skills, experience, qualities]
  • Work-study schedule: [schedule, e.g. 3 weeks at the company / 1 week at school]
  • Start date and contract type, if I know them: [start date and contract: apprenticeship / professionalization]
  • What draws me to this company: [specific motivations]

Instructions:

  1. Structure it in 3 parts: "you" (the company and why it), "me" (my profile and what I bring), "us" (what we'll do together during the work-study program).
  2. An opening sentence that talks about the company or the role, with no cliché like "I am writing to apply for."
  3. Talk about my motivation and what I'm learning in my program, without apologizing for my lack of experience.
  4. Concretely connect my skills to the role's responsibilities, and state the schedule and start date.
  5. Polite and direct tone, no flattery.
  6. One page maximum (≈ 350 words).
  7. End with an appropriate closing and a clear call for an interview.

Then offer 2 alternative opening lines to choose from and 1 tip to personalize the letter even further.

Why this prompt works

In a work-study program, the company hires you on an apprenticeship or professionalization contract, and you'll spend part of your time at school. The letter must therefore state your program, school, schedule and start date: the recruiter needs them to plan your presence. The prompt follows the you-me-us structure: the company, what you bring, then what you'll do together. For the "you" part, mention a project, product or recent news from the company, otherwise the letter could go to anyone. After the first draft, ask "shorten to 300 words" or "make the first sentence more direct" if needed.

Use Cases

Find a company for a CAP, BTS, BUT or master's degree through a work-study programWrite to several companies by changing only the part about the companyApply for a work-study program with little professional experience

Expected Output

A one-page work-study letter (about 350 words) in three parts: the company, your profile, the shared project. It ends with a request for an interview. Two alternative opening lines and a personalization tip come with it.
